Pre-School Room: caters for children aged 3 - 5 years
Sessional service: 1 service from 9:30am - 12:30pm
Staff Ratio: 1:11 children
Maximum Number of Children: 22
Programme: We are implementing the high/scope approach in our pre-school. The main principle is active learning. This involves the children making their own choices with the support and encouragement of our caring attentive qualified teams. This promotes independence and the ability to start thinking for themselves: qualities which can be carried into later life. Plan, do, review - Children can plan their play, carry out the activity and talk about it at the end of the session with their key worker.
Daily Routine: Every day the children will experience a consistent routine. This helps the children feel secure as they know what will happen next. During the daily routine the children use a wide variety of equipment and materials such as sand, water, dough, junk art and home corner play. They will play alone, with another child and in small and large groups.
Food and Clothing: Children will bring a healthy lunch from home each day. We have implemented a healthy eating policy in the centre and sweets, bars, crisps and fizzy drinks will be sent home again. Please send your child to the centre in clothes that are easy to take off to go to the toilet and are appropriate for messy play. You will need to send an extra set of clothes in case of accidents.
