After School Club - caters for children aged 5 - 12 yrs approx.

Little Acorns Children's Centre offers professionally supervsed care and organized activites for children aged between 5 and 8 years after school and during holidays. A hot healthy meal will be provided on arrival., Children out of school full day care will be provided with 2 snacks and a healthy hot lunch.

Our after school programme provides a stimulating and comfortable environment for your child. Time is allocated for free play, arts and crafts, baking, drama, role plays, music and movement, story time, construction toys and outdoor play. A comfortable area is provided where children can relax and read to allow for children to have some “quiet time” to themselves.

What we provide:

Breakfast Club
Escorted to the morning bus going to Bekan National School (if applicable)
We provide an after school collection service
Children are given home cooked nutritious meal and healthy snacks.
Homework is done in a prepared environment with an adult present to answer any questions your child may have.
Positive play opportunities offer children support to develop, learn and have fun.

1. CETS Programme

If you are a parent and taking part in an eligible ETB/Solas course you can avail the CETS programme.

2. The After-school Childcare Scheme (ASCC)

In general, to qualify for support under the ASCC, a parent must

Be currently getting a jobseekers benefit (JB), jobseekers allowance (JA) or One Parent Family payment (OFP) or an a DSP employment programme; AND
Be in receipt of a JB, JA or OFP payment or have been on a department of social protection (DSP) employment programme (or any combination of the 4) for at least 3 months; AND
Have one or more children aged between 4 and 13 who are in primary school; AND
Either start a new job or increase the days you currently work; or
Start a DSP employment programme (except CE*)

*CE is excluded from eligibility for ASCC as the CE childcare (CEC) Programme provides subsidised childcare for all CE participants with children from 0 to 13 years of age.

3. CE Childcare (CEC) Programme

CE Childcare (CEC) Programme is administered on behalf of the Department of Social Protection (DSP). The programme provides part-time or after school care for children up to 13 years of age. DSP have sole responsibility for deciding who is eligible to avail of this strand of the CEC programme. If you are a parent taking part in a CE scheme you are eligible for a CE childcare place.
